Her work focuses on understanding how genetics and diet influence human milk composition and lactation performance, with an emphasis on translational relevance and clinical impact.
Motivated by a commitment to bridge rigorous science with real-world application, Dr. Kelleher founded LactoGenix to support organizations navigating the scientific, technical, and strategic dimensions of human milk and lactation innovation. Through LactoGenix, she helps organizations clearly articulate the scientific value, implications, and clinical relevance of their technologies to diverse audiences, including industry, clinical, and investment stakeholders.
Dr. Kelleher is a Professor of Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences at University of Massachusetts Lowell in the Greater Boston area. Prior to joining UMass Lowell, she held faculty appointments at Penn State University in Nutritional Sciences, Cell and Molecular Physiology, and Pharmacology. Her industry experience includes collaborations with leading companies in the infant nutrition sector, as well as advisory roles with startups and early-stage companies.
Dr. Kelleher earned a B.A. in Biology and Chemistry from University of San Diego and a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry and Cell Biology from University of California, Davis.
She is a trusted advisor to executives across biotechnology, cell agriculture, biopharma, and academia, a consultant to clinicians, and a long-standing mentor to emerging scientists and nutrition professionals.
